Reflecting on 2022, and plans for 2023.

Yes, they're ambitious...

2022 was a year of change, the biggest of which was moving hemispheres! The year began with us living in New Zealand, and we ended it in the Algarve, in Portugal – our new home.

Once we were told we had been granted our residency, it was a frantic few months of selling the house, arranging the transport of our possessions, as well as what felt like a million details. But, it was worth it! We love where we are in the west of the Algarve. The weather is great, everyone is friendly, and we have had two lovely rental houses.

The last few months have been spent looking for a house to buy, and finally, just before Christmas, we found one! After a bit of negotiating, we have agreed on a price, and once the holidays are over, our lawyer can start all the preparations. We’re so excited! I can’t wait to set up my new study, where I will plan and write my future books and other projects!

2022 also involved lots of travel, not only the big move, but trips to the UK, and one to Madrid. After years in NZ without travel due to Covid, we had a lot of catching up to do, and a family wedding to attend. In December we returned for the JB’s reunion, a club that we used to pretty much live in thirty years ago. We saw friends I haven’t seen in years!

There were two writing conferences – London and Madrid, both of which were great, and I will be repeating them this year. One will be in London, and I will tag a UK holiday onto that. We’ll catch up with friends and family, and also go to Cornwall for some inspiration and relaxation. The other conference is in Seville, and we’ll be able to drive to that. I’m so excited to visit there. However, there will be far less travel in general. I have lots to get through this year, including a house move.

In 2022 I managed to write four books, which, looking back on all the upheaval, was quite miraculous! I produced four audiobooks, too, as well as paperbacks. I updated my website, made an audiobook page, and put a reading order of my series on there, too.

What’s happening in 2023?

This year my plans are more ambitious! I’m planning to write five books, including the first book in a new spin-off series; I’ll list my planned release dates below. I will continue to produce more audiobooks, but I’ll see how the money goes for them. They’re quite pricey to produce!

I have other grand plans for 2023. I’m in talks already to have new covers made for the White Haven Witches series, which will be used for hardbacks. I already have two hardback books of the first two multi-volume sets in the series, but really want to do individual covers, too.

I want to grow my direct sales, and that might involve setting up a shopify store. I currently use Payhip, which is pretty good, but I’m determined to add some merchandise this year – tote bags, bookmarks, mugs, and other things I have rumbling around in my head.

I will also be running some Kickstarter projects this year, because it will help fund merchandise, new covers, special editions, and audio. I’ll be offering some great reward tiers, so I hope you’ll want to support me! I’m hoping to set the first one up very soon.

Importantly, my other half, Jason, joined the business this year, and has been making videos and running adverts! It’s made everything even more fun! ๐Ÿ™‚

2023 Release Dates:

  • February 23rd: Wyrd Magic, White Haven Witches Book 11
  • March/April: Hunter’s Dawn, White Haven Hunters Book 5, Audiobook
  • April 20th: Storm Moon Rising, Storm Moon Shifters Book 1 (a White Haven Spin-off)
  • June 29th: White Haven Hunters Book 6, as yet untitled
  • August: Crown of Magic, White Haven Witches Book 7, Audiobook
  • September 21st: White Haven Witches Book 12, untitled
  • November 23rd: Storm Moon Mysteries Book 2, untitled
  • The Silver Tower and The Cursed Sword audiobooks will also be out some time this year.

So, those are my plans. I’ll also be enjoying my new home, as well as decorating and pottering in the garden, and committing to regular exercise, which I do already, but need to keep up! I’m sure with a lot of intent and a little magic I can get it all done. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Importantly, I have to thank you, my fabulous readers, for making all of this possible. Without your support, I couldn’t have done any of this, so huge thanks to all of you xx

Hi, it’s great to have finally made it to your blog. It is Christmas Day 2023 and I have finally caught up on four of your more recent books, with reviews added on each.
I have discovered I have memory problems, not dementia I hasten to add, but as a result of long term insomnia. This has led to the pleasant experience of being able to re-read all my favourite books ๐Ÿ“š as I do not remember all the details. So I have had the joys of rediscovering all of your books and checking if I left a review the first time around. I have enjoyed the new books, being familiar with the places in London, the Lake district and especially Scotland. I love the inclusion of conspiracy theories and alternative views of religion and origin theories. Your books have made this a very happy Christmas for me Many Thanks and Happy New Year in 2024.

    1. TJ45279180 says:

Hi Colette, thank you! Sorry to hear about your insomnia, but glad you’re seeing the positives. A very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
